Barefoot Bowls BBQ Wrap Up

On Wednesday the 27th of February, the EFLUA put on their first Social Event for the year – a Barefoot Bowls BBQ. On a beautiful sunny evening our umpires and their families tested their skills on the bowling green whilst enjoying a feed from the BBQ and some refreshing drinks from the bowls club bar. The event was held at Heathmont Bowls Club kicking off at 6PM with the last group of umpires lasting till just after final drinks were called at 10PM.

Over 100 umpires and their families were in attendance proving the night to be a huge success. What was most pleasing was seeing the range of umpires attending – from our young members to the more senior of us, to junior filed umpires to goal umpires, to first year umpires to life members, there was a great sense of community! We welcomed 14 Life Members to the event and received apologies from several others who were sad to miss the night. Also pleasing was seeing our members bring along their family, who are always welcome at our events.

 We had some other community members who were using the bowling green comment on how great it was to see so many of us out there having a fun time.

 Winners of the raffle were Bart Maaskant, Ben White, Arthur McArthy and Mandy Churchill (Wife of Peter Churchill)

We ran a closest to the pin competition and we were thrilled to see first year umpire Mitch, supported by his family, take home the prize with a loud cheer from everyone watching.

 We thank our members for their support of the event and we look forward to our next function of the year which will be out Season Launch on April 3 back at our rooms in Croydon.
