A new age for the EFNL umpiring group

Following the successful trial in 2022, the EFNL will see the roll out of match day communication equipment throughout all divisions. Each division will see up to 1 game have umpires mic’d up and utilizing state of the art technology to assist in meeting the demands of the game whilst adding to the development of young emerging umpires.

The league in 2023 has made the investment to meet the high caliber of football that is displayed each weekend whether it be in our senior ranks or amongst our junior levels. “We recognized the financial investment clubs make on a yearly basis that is responsible for the level of football displayed of a weekend, and it was imperative that we match the professionalism and continue to grow our umpiring group to match that standard” Scott Van Noordennen EFNL director of umpire said.

During the 2022 season the trial throughout the season within the premier division and then subsequent finals series saw incredible feedback and positives amongst the umpiring panel. “Having the ability to be in direct contact with your partnering umpires allows for clearer understanding on positioning, handovers and decisions made through out the game” Senior umpire Damian De Vincentis makes mention.

All divisions this year will see the utilization of communication equipment on selected games, alternating between coaching and development purposes to blockbuster/game of the day fixtures.
